Born in 1956 in Vienna, Austria, EU.
Study of Physics at the Universities of Vienna (Austria) and Heidelberg (Germany) starting in 1975. Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Vienna 1981. `Dozentur' at the Technische Universität Wien 1988.
Visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeley and at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (USA) in 1982/83. Officer (scientific data bases and library automation) with the Ministry for Science and Research (Austria) in 1983-1990.
Visiting scholar at the Moscow State University and the Lebedev Institute (Russia) in fall 1996.
Permanent position at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Vienna University of Technology since 1990.
Professor of Physics at the Vienna University of Technology (Ao. Univ. Prof.) since 1998.
External faculty member, Centre for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Sciences, University of Auckland, New Zealand since 1996.
Author of two scientific monographs and over 130 scientific articles and contributions in research journals. Associate Editor of the journal Journal of Universal Computer Science (Springer) and Associate Editor (Complexity) of the journal Chaos, Solitons & Fractals (Elsevier) since 1997.
